Pro Dive Cairns: 3 day PADI Ocean Referral Course

If you need to complete your PADI Open Water Certification, you can do an Ocean Referral course with us. Our PADI Ocean Referral course is held on our 3 day 2 night live aboard trip which departs from Cairns everyday except Tuesday. Check-in is at 6:20am.

Pro Dive Cairns 3 Day PADI Ocean Referral Course

Maximum 32 passengers on board

You must bring your PADI referral papers signed by your PADI instructor, stating that you have completed all modules of pool and classroom training. Please be aware that Pro Dive Cairns is a PADI Training Facility Centre and if you have completed your pool and classroom training with another dive company and/or instructor other than PADI, you will be required to complete further training before their Referral course commences. This further training will require you to attend an additional day of your time to review water skills and theory.  If you are unsure whether you hold a PADI REFERRAL or you need to organise this additional day of training, please do not hesitate to contact Pro Dive.

Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. You will be required to obtain a dive medical certificate if you answer “yes” to any of the questions on the entry level student diver medical declaration found on our website under "Forms". If you do require a dive medical, it must be obtained prior to commencing the course and must not be more than 90 days old when you start with us. If you wait until arrival into Cairns, your medical can be done at the ‘Cairns 24 hour Medical Centre’ before 8:00pm most days – they charge AU$77.00 per person and no appointment is necessary.

The night before departure:
Please drop into our retail shop, located on the corner of Grafton & Shields Streets, between 4:30 - 6:30pm the night before the trip to confirm your paperwork, arrange your dive/snorkelling equipment for the trip. The shop will close at 7.00pm every night.

Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. Please make your way to the Retail Shop on the Corner of Grafton & Shields St the day prior to the course to complete the statement. You will be required to obtain a Dive Medical if you answer “Yes” to any of the questions on the medical statement.

You can learn about the reef and fish you will meet by visiting ‘Reef Teach’ a 2.5hr Marine Biology Presentation. It is located on the 2nd floor of the Mainstreet Arcade at 85 Lake Street. This is an additional cost and not available on a Sunday or Monday night.

Day One - Diving the Outer Great Barrier Reef
05:45hrs - Complimentary hotel transfer – available from Cairns City & Northern Beaches accommodation.
06:15 - Check in at Pro Dive retail shop – Corner Shields & Grafton Streets.
07:00 - Depart Cairns for 3 days & 2 nights of fantastic diving/snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. A light breakfast is served onboard.
10:30 - Your first training dive in the ocean  
12:00 - Lunch is served - hearty soup with an array of fresh salads, cold meats & bread rolls.
14:30 - Your second training dive
18:00 - Dinner - the menu changes each trip however it will be wholesome, hot & of course lots of it! Then time to relax.

Day Two - Experience further fantastic diving on the Outer Great Barrier Reef
07:00hrs - Your third training dive.
08:00 - Enjoy a hearty breakfast of cereal, fresh fruit, bacon and eggs as well as toast & spreads.
10:30 - Your fourth and final training dive!
12:00 - Lunch on the second day is hot pasta with a variety of fresh salads.
14:30 - You are now a certified diver – your first pleasure dive!
18:00 - A hot dinner is served
19:30 - A guided night dive!

Day Three - Morning dives and return to Cairns
06:30hrs - Your first dive of the day.
07:30 - A hot breakfast accompanied with fresh fruit salad, cereals and toast.
09:00 - After breakfast, the vessel makes its last site of the trip, where you will do your second dive.
11:00 - Your last dive of the trip!
12:00 - A selection of freshly made sandwiches is served before the vessel heads back to Cairns
16:00 - Complimentary accommodation transfers – Cairns City & Northern Beaches.
19:30 - Join fellow passengers & crew at a local restaurant for a farewell dinner! (optional)

Please Note

  • Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving – if in doubt please see your doctor before travelling
  • In the interest of safety we recommend you do not fly within a 24 hour period after diving
  • The above itinerary is a guide only and the times of dives may change
  • The skipper will always adapt an itinerary to the prevailing weather, tides and currents
  • Please advise if you have any dietary requirements & we will do our best to cater for you
  • Everyone will be required to fill out a Medical Waiver Release and Indemnity Deed onboard the vessel
  • We recommend you organize your own travel insurance

3 Day PADI Ocean Referral Course commences everyday except Tuesday.

Cources in German every Thursday and Sunday and Japanese every Saturday

Additional Costs
An additional fee of AU$65.00 per person is payable direct to Pro Dive Cairns. This fee consists of a AU$18.00 Government Environmental Management Charge (EMC) as well as a Port Departure Tax and administration costs. This is payable direct to our Retail Shop at the end of your trip.

IMPORTANT REFERRAL INFORMATION: Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. All Students must complete the 'Entry Level Student Diver Medical Declaration Form' You will be required to obtain a dive medical certificate if you answer “yes” to any of the questions on the attached medical declaration - The dive medical must be completed PRIOR to starting the course and must be valid within 90 days of commencing the course.

We have Digital Cameras with underwater housings available onboard for hire – the cost is AUD$35.00 per dive which includes the SD card, yours to keep.
